Midget Proposal

Midget Proposal
A proposal by the Board of PAMH may be implemented for the 2010-2011 Hockey Season that will see a change to the structure of the Midget Hockey Division. This pending proposal will see Midget Hockey Tiered into Two Categories, Midget Tier II & Midget Recreation. Each Midget player registered will be evaluated and then placed on a Tier II or Recreation team. If a player decides that he would only like to play Midget Recreation, he will be placed there and chosen for a team when the balancing games have been completed. Midget Recreation will be played in accordance with all SHA and PAMH rules and regulations with the exception that there will be “NO” Body Checking in the games. Midget Tier II will be a competitive division that will consist of 4 or more teams and will be entered for all SHA play. The reasoning behind this proposal is to lessen the disparities between players in the Midget Division and promote “Staying in the Game” for players who may be just wanting to play a lesser competitive brand of hockey. Since the Midget years consist of ages 15 to 17 (18 in some cases) we have found that a non-tiered league has not been a true solution. We have found great differences in hockey abilities and size of players. Commitment levels differ greatly from player to player and coaches to coaches. We hope if possible to try this proposal for the next season so that we may keep players who were thinking of quitting, in the game for years to come. This proposal depends on the amount of midget players that register for the 2010-2011 season. If you have any questions please email me-president.paminor@sasktel.net
